<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;">Lumina ultravioleta sau lumina UV este o radiatie electromagnetica cu o lungime de unda mai scurta decat cea a luminii vizibile,dar mai lunga decat cea a razelor X. Lumina ultravioleta poate avea o lungime de unda cuprinsa intre 10 si 400 nm (nanometri). Spectru de lumina a luminii uv este compus din unde electromagnetice cu frecvente mai mari decat cele pe care omul le poate identifica prin culoarea violet,de aici vine si denumirea.</span></p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;">Lumina UV se gaseste in lumina soarelui si este emisa de catre arcurile voltaice electrice sau de catre surse de lumina speciale precum lumina neagra (black light).<br />
Ca si radiatie ionica,lumina ultravioleta poate cauza reactii chimice ,reactii cu efect de glow sau fluorescent asupra unor substante.Majoritatea dintre noi cunoastem efectul luminii ultraviolete prin arsurile de piele provocate de expunerea indelungata la soare,dar lumina UV are multiple efecte,atat benefice cat si daunatoare sanatatii umane.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Surse de lumina UV naturala</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Soarele emite lumina ultravioleta de UVA, UVB si UVC. Stratul de ozon al Pamantului blocheaza 98.7% din lumina UV impotriva penetrarii atmosferei.98.7%  din radiatiile ultraviolete care ating suprafata pamantului sunt din categoria UVA. Sticla obisnuita este transparenta pentru lumina UVA si permite trecerea la aproximativ 90 % din lumina UV cu lungime de unde de peste 350 nm in timp ce blocheaza 90 % din lumina UV cu lungime de unda sub 300 nm.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Black light (lumina neagra)</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">O lumina neagra (blacklight) este o lampa care emite lumina UV cu o lungime de unda lunga si foarte putina lumina vizibila. In denumirea comuna o alta denumire pentru lampa blacklight este si denumirea de <strong>lampa UV</strong>. DIferenta dintr o lampa blacklight fluorescenta si o simpla lampa fluorescenta este ca prima  foloseste un singur fosfor si in locul sticlei transparente a tubului foloseste o sticla de culoare violet inchis.Aceasta sticla se numeste sticla lui Wood si blocheaza aproape toata  lumina vizibila cu lungime de unda de peste 400 nm.Aceasta sticla face diferenta intre lampele uv blackligh si lampele uv gen insectocutoare.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Lampe fluorescente ultraviolete</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Lampa fluorescenta ultravioleta fara strat fosforescent emit o lumina UV cu lumgime de unda ce poate atinge maxim 254 nm.DAca se adauga un strat fosforescent acestea pot emite lumina UVA,UVB .</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>LED-uri ultraviolete</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Led<strong>-</strong>urile </span>(light-emitting diodes) pot fi fabricate in asa fel incat sa emane lumina ultravioleta ,desi sunt foarte rare LED-urile cu lungime de unda sub 365 nm.</p>
<p><strong>Lasere ultraviolete</strong></p>
<p>Diodele laser UV pot fi construit in asa fel incat sa emita lumina din categoria UV.Lungimile de unda disponibile sunt 262, 266, 349, 351, 355 si 375 nm cu aplicatii in industrie,medicina si securizarea comunicatiilor.</p>
